Import Your X Bookmarks Into Animus
X lets you bookmark tweets — but finding them later is nearly impossible. Here's how to export your X bookmarks into Animus so you can actually search and use what you've saved.
Your Twitter bookmarks are a black hole. You save stuff, never find it again. Animus fixes that.
But first you need to get your bookmarks out of Twitter. All it takes is 5 minutes to setup the Animus Exporter to get export your bookmarks.
1. Download the Extension
Grab the Animus Exporter from GitHub. Download the ZIP and unzip it.
2. Load It Into Chrome
- Go to
chrome://extensions - Turn on Developer mode (top right)
- Click Load unpacked
- Select the
distfolder
You'll see the Animus Exporter icon in your toolbar.
3. Make Sure You're Logged Into Twitter
The extension uses your existing browser session — no passwords needed. Just confirm you can see your bookmarks at x.com/i/bookmarks.
4. Export
- Click the Animus Exporter icon
- Select Twitter/X
- Hit export
It pulls your bookmarks in batches of 100. When it's done, save the JSON file.
5. Import Into Animus
Head to Animus and import the JSON. Animus will extract, index, and make everything searchable.
Good to Know
- Your credentials stay safe. Auth tokens only exist in memory during the export. Nothing is stored.
- It's open source. Zero external dependencies. Check the code yourself.
- More platforms coming. Twitter/X is first. Others are on the way.
That's it. Five minutes and your bookmarks actually become useful.
